Tristeza

Torre (toh-roll your “r”s – ay) = tower. Gemelos (He-mel-ohs) = twins. Don’t forget.

Where were you on September 11, 2001?

  1. Flaky Friend

I was getting Olivia ready for her first day at a new preschool. Kevin would have been on the first flight east that day but decided to go later so he could walk Olivia to preschool. Where were you?

  2. SmartAlecAngela

Pregnant with Dominic, 1st day of 3yr.old pre-school for Morgan, watching Good Morning America. Was watching the the TV when the 2nd plane hit.

  3. MCV

Living in Seattle, no kids. Expat called and woke me up and told me to turn on the TV. Was also watching as 2nd tower was hit. I’ll never forget–seared into memory.

  4. Mood Ring Momma

Living in Puyallup, in my bedroom, getting boys ready for daycare. Watching Today Show when 2nd plane hit. The most tragic event in my lifetime. If you haven’t already been, I strongly recommend a visit to the WTC Tribute Center at the site. It honors all those who passed (and survived), including those at the Pentagon and those who bravely perished in a Pennsylvania field.

  5. 425Heidi

Living in our first house in Sammamish, in the bedroom/bathroom, getting ready to take Skyler to his 2nd day of preschool. I will never forget the silence at night when all the planes were grounded. I remember thinking that life as we knew it would never be the same. Sydney was born 2 years later, the same week the war started.

  6. FF et al.: I was at home. The day before my husband had asked me how I felt about moving to Brazil. My friend and neighbor, Texas Belle, called to tell me a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Towers. I had no TV hooked up as we had just (surprise, surprise) moved. I think I’d just dropped off Thing 3 at the Montessori school next door to our house but truthfully, am not sure. I called my family and woke them up on the West Coast then ran to Texas Belle’s house. By then the second tower had been hit and the Pentagon. I have never been so grateful not to have television service. Like 425Heidi, I did not think life would ever be the same and in some, larger way, I don’t think it has been. Three weeks later I was on a plane to Brazil to house hunt. The mayor of our new town in Brazil had just been assassinated on 9/11 so it was a terrible day for them as well. The authors of that crime have never been caught either.
